Journey to the Moon!
I think of our lives in 2020 like a rocket/shuttle that is on its way to the moon.
As it makes it journey - parts of the structure break away in order for the shuttle to lose its momentum.
Elements of it (that were there when the journey began) will not make it to the moon.
These are those moments we have and will continue to live through. Our shuttle is shedding.
It may look like the shuttle is breaking down or losing vital parts, but as soon as those pieces of the rocket have played their part; they are shed from the rocket as a whole.
Released gently to make their own way back home. Those elements had their own journey, and they stuck around for as long as they could.
We have all lost a lot this year (and even last year for those of us who have been on this journey a while) But for everything taken from us; we have become something new.
We transform. We look different and move differently. We become something lighter and more aerodynamic. Something with direction that is on a course it cannot diverge from.
This analogy won't make the year or loss we've endured any easier, but take some solace in knowing that you are going to make it to the moon. And what a journey each step was, even if some elements only see a short time of the trip - keep moving forward. It'll be worth it.
